USA – The 18 Claypaky Scenius Profile fixtures recently acquired by the Canton, Massachusetts office of High Output Inc. for its rental inventory have hardly spent a moment on the shelves.  The moving head spotlights at the top of the Claypaky range experienced a busy general election season and continue to service many national broadcast and corporate projects.

“We’re excited to have Scenius Profile in our rental fleet,” says Andrew Boucher, production manager at High Output Inc.  “The feature set of Scenius lends itself to both the broadcast and rental staging markets.  In fact, we expect Scenius to be a workhorse fixture in our staging division.”

The purchase, from A.C.T Lighting, Inc., was prompted by a major cable news network’s presidential debate tour.  “They were looking for roughly 18 profiles with shutters for their outdoor news desk set for the three presidential and one vice presidential debates,” Boucher recalls.  “With our normal schedule of fall projects and other political coverage we had no options left in our rental inventory.  But we had been considering purchasing more profile fixtures with shutters; we were in the market for more fixtures of this size with this kind of feature set.

“A.C.T Lighting quickly came to our assistance.  They were fantastic about overnighting Scenius demo units to the cable news network’s headquarters.  The network did some camera tests and was very happy with the results.  Within three days of the demo we placed our purchase order.”

The entire roster of Scenius Profile fixtures was dispatched on the debate tour for more than one month.  “The client had nothing but great things to say about them,” says Boucher.  “We expect to see Scenius on their future request lists as we continue to work on projects together.”

In the meantime, Scenius just wrapped a University of Massachusetts gala at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Boucher anticipates more broadcast shop orders will wrap up the year.

“Clients like the optics and clarity of the fixture,” he notes.  “And the overall intensity is remarkable, especially for projects that transition from daylight to nighttime.”  He adds that, “features like the gobo wheels and wide zoom range fill a lot of needs for us on events projects, too.”

The Scenius Profile fixtures join Claypaky Sharpys and Alpha Spot HPE 575s in High Output’s rental inventory. The company also has a complement of grandMA consoles.  High Output expanded its grandMA line with 4-port nodes and a command wing earlier this summer; the additions were deployed during the political conventions and on the debate tour.

A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive North American distributor for Claypaky.

Francesco Romagnoli, Claypaky Area Manager for North and Latin America, added, “It is very rewarding to see our fixtures used for this very important news event.  High Output is a great company and a great customer of ours.”
