The Frankfurt ProLight+Sound proved to be “the” reference fair for the trade again this year. Flocks of exhibitors and visitors from all over the world turned up to see this showcase of the most up-to-date technology in the entertainment industry.

Clay Paky’s participation had an international flavour combined with constant customer-orientation. All the “Clay Paky Global Network” partners, who came to see the latest company products, were welcomed at the stand. A special demo room was set up outside the stand so that each product could be presented in exhaustive detail.

Pio Nahum, Clay Paky Marketing Manager, says: “We got very positive feedback from this show, which confirmed that our product choices and commercial policy are right, at a time when our reference competitors are announcing negative results for last year and a difficult recovery. Our distribution network is increasingly widespread on five continents, and our product range has grown to include new items, such as LED screens.”

We presented the Alpha 1500 line in full force for the first time at the ProLight+Sound 2010. A beam shaper, a spotlight and a washlight have been added to the previously launched beam moving light and long-throw washlight, so that the line now consists of five models with well defined functions and fields of application. They can be combined magnificently together due to their complementary effects, modular construction, advanced electronics and perfectly interchangeable firmware.

The Alpha Profile 1500 is the most advanced professional beam shaper on the market. It combines the power of a 1500 W lamp with an exclusive framing system, designed and patented by Clay Paky. It is extremely bright, very silent and has advanced electronics and software. It comes with a complete range of effects and a 1:9 zoom that makes it suitable both for short and long throw applications. The Alpha Profile 1500 is a precious resource for lighting designers who work in professional environments.

The Alpha Spot HPE 1500 is the most powerful spotlight in the Alpha line, capable of extremely advanced mechanical, optical and lighting performance. It is very fast and silent, and its extraordinary power is amplified by a wide zoom that makes it suitable for all applications. The graphic system consists of 3 gobo wheels (totalling 20 gobos), an exclusive “animated star gobo”, an animation disc, a prism and all the essential effects to make the Alpha Spot HPE 1500 the most versatile and complete spotlight on the market.

The Alpha Wash 1500 is an innovative washlight that uses a CMY system, two colour wheels with select pure filters, and a linear CTO. It has a wide linear zoom, surprising brightness, and maximum beam uniformity at any beam angle, thus allowing it to be used in short, medium and long throw professional and architectural lighting.

Clay Paky – the all-time leader in professional show lighting – also presented an exclusive delightful new product for the first time in the world: Mirage. It is an innovative semi-transparent LED display with video technology, designed to adapt both to indoor and outdoor environments. It is not physically built as a solid barrier, but allows you to see what is behind it and allows light beams to pass through it in both directions. It is a see-through display, with a structure consisting of thin horizontal bars alternated with gaps that give it an approximately 50% transparency ratio. Thanks to its specifications and ease of handling and use, the Mirage display is suitable for a great variety of applications including small and large events, live shows, and in TV studios.

Another out-of-the-ordinary new Clay Paky product is HandsOn, introduced for the first time at PL+S 2010. It is a new practical control system that allows you to program a medium-sized computerized lighting system using a PC. HandsOn transforms the laptop screen into an intuitive direct control interface for any DMX 512 fixture, including lights with conventional lamps or LEDs, dimmers, lasers, smoke machines, and any other effect. It consists of sophisticated software and a revolutionary interface/driver that looks just like a small connector.
