South Africa – Clay Paky, a world-renowned brand in the sector of professional lighting systems, has appointed Johannesburg based DWR Distribution, well known for its high standard of project work and large network of industry clients, as its exclusive distributor for South Africa.
The appointment is a direct response to the continued growth in the creative and entertainment industries in South Africa, a sector that, according to the Department of Trade and Industry, is valued at around R7.4-billion per year.
Indeed, DWR’s own growth reflects this. In 2006, after ten years working in the lighting industry, Duncan Riley established DWR from a double garage at his home. Since then he and his growing team of skilled staff have seen the company expand very quickly. Today DWR operates from it’s own dedicated premises, employs 26 staff and is a major supplier of intelligent lighting and control along with trussing and rigging equipment for staging, theatre, events and entertainment in South Africa and beyond. Key to DWR’s success is Riley’s resolute commitment to take care of the people he works with and for.
Commenting on DWRs appointment, Riley says: “I’m delighted to be adding the Clay Paky range of lighting fixtures to our portfolio of professional lighting products. Clay Paky is spearheading some of the most innovative and exciting developments in lighting technology design and the resulting products respond directly to the needs of end users”.
“It’s undeniably one of the most exciting brands in the entertainment lighting arena. We’re looking forward to bringing Clay Paky products to all the sectors we operate in including: theatre, television, live events and concerts along with the ever emergent architectural and architainment markets.”
Pio Nahum, Chief Commercial Officer for Clay Paky adds: “Clay Paky is delighted to welcome DWR as its exclusive distributor for South Africa. As one of the world’s top brands in entertainment lighting technology Clay Paky fixtures are specified in every sector of the entertainment market from TV to opera, live events to rock and roll. We believe that Duncan and his team at DWR have the right contacts and business attitude to bring valuable focus to our brand in the region”.
Massimo Bolandrina, Clay Paky Sales Manager for South Africa, says: “I urge both new and existing players to call on DWR’s experience, knowledge and capability in all things lighting technology and discover for themselves what Clay Paky products can bring to their own projects and businesses.”
